The construction industry is experiencing a nationwide skilled workforce shortage. 70% of our
skilled trade and vocational workforce are from the Baby Boomer generation and will all be
retiring soon. There are not enough young people working or entering these industries to meet
the market demands.

The need for skilled residential construction workers is here now and will increase rapidly in the
near future. These jobs cannot be outsourced to foreign counties and will not be replaced by
robots or automation for many years, if ever.

The industries that need these skilled workers will be significantly impacted and will stall our
economic recovery and expansion if this issue is not resolved soon. The National Construction
Institute is part of that solution.
